2026Across Northern Nigeria, thousands lose their lives every year to malnutrition and to conflicts between farmers and herders. Dr. Ibraheem Dooba is addressing this crisis through 200MillionTrees, a community-driven initiative with a vision to restore degraded land, reduce conflict, and improve nutrition through large-scale tree planting.
Growing up in Northern Nigeria, Ibraheem watched as land degraded, conflict rose, and families struggled to access food. A regional leader across technology, education, and business, he kept encountering the same systems failing the same communities. That deep experience led him to the simple, radical idea that improving the environment could solve what existing systems couldn’t. By planting nitrogen-fixing trees that nurture soil and feed cattle, 200MillionTrees is providing a win-win solution to farmer-herder conflict.

Hundreds of my people die yearly from climate change. Growing up in Northern Nigeria, I witnessed desertification, conflict, and hunger. This work demands courage, consistency, and deep listening at a massive scale.
